8 April-11 September. The Ordrupgaard and Faaborg museums present an exhibition of some 50 paintings by three Danish artists: Fritz Syberg (1862-1939), Johannes Larsen (1867-1961) and Peter Hansen (1868-1928).
The three artists from Funen became popular at the beginning of the 20th century due to their brightly coloured paintings of everyday scenes and they were thought of highly by the artistic establishment of the time.
Their naturalistic style was not to everyone's taste however, and in 1907 the artists found themselves in the centre of a dispute begun by a group of Danish symbolist painters.
The exhibition gives the background to the commotion and tells the story of two art collectors Wilhelm Hansen and Mads Rasmussen, who amassed their collections of the Funen artists during the stand-off.
