8 April-11 September. This exhibition comprises over 60 works by some of the leading exponents of Impressionism and Post Impressionism, all from Ordrupgaard’s collection of late 19th-century French art.
The Impressionists were concerned with the effects of light, colour and texture; they sought to achieve a more natural "truth" than their predecessors. Included in the show are vintage postcards, archive photographs and travel guides which attempt to link the artists’ desire to travel across the countryside with the revolutionary emergence of the railway and early modern-day tourism.
Featuring work by Corot, Gaugain, Guillaumin, Monét, Pissarro and Sisley.
