Hungry Planet

22 January - 27 March 2011. In Peter Menzel's photographed portraits of families from around the world, the families are surrounded by the food they consume each week. Aside from providing insights into the connections between food products and food cultures, the exhibition raises issues relating to our daily eating habits and how they affect the global climate and food sustainability.

One question it asks visitors to think about specifically is: Why transport a Danish trout fillet to Vietnam to be wrapped before it ends up in a Danish lunch? Of equal interest is the data submitted by each of the participating families relating to the amount of household waste they generate per week. Visitors are offered guided tours and lectures by researchers, food enthusiasts and Menzel himself.
