COPENHAGEN NOW CHEAPER FOR EXPATS

Copenhagen has dropped to 17th place in the annual Mercer Worldwide Cost of Living Survey 2011, which compares costs for expatriates in 214 cities around the world. Copenhagen drops down from 10th place in 2010, and is well below other European cities such as Geneva in fifth place and Zurich in seventh.

The most expensive city in the world for expats is Luanda, Angola, followed by Tokyo in second place and N’Djamena, Chad, in third. Karachi is the cheapest city worldwide. The survey measures the comparative cost of accommodation, transport, food and entertainment. New York is the base city and all others are ranked against it.
